CUET Hosts First Conference on Resilient Architecture for Sustainability
The Department of Architecture at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) is set to organize the 1st National Conference on Resilient Architecture Towards Sustainable Bangladesh (NCRATSB-2024) on December 18. This is the first national-level conference on resilient infrastructure aimed at building a sustainable Bangladesh.
The conference will bring together leading academics, scholars, and researchers from prominent institutions, including CUET, BUET, RUET, KUET, Khulna University, Daffodil International University, BRAC University, and Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University. Four keynote speakers and one invited speaker will address the conference, where a total of 15 research papers will be presented. The event is being supervised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and CUET, with sponsorship support from Nippon Paint and Kushla Nirmata Ltd.
At a press conference held on Tuesday at CUET's Architecture Department, Conference Convener and Assistant Professor Dr. Sajal Chowdhury shared these details through a written statement. Also present at the press briefing were Associate Professor Kanu Kumar Das, Assistant Professors Sajib Pal, Rezuana Islam, Shayla Sharmin, Amit Imtiaz, and Sara Binte Haque.
The inaugural ceremony will feature Professor Dr. Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, Member of the University Grants Commission, as the Chief Guest. The Vice-Chancellor of CUET, Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, will attend as the Guest of Honor. Special guests include Professor Dr. Muhammad Rashidul Hasan, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, and Professor Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Acting Registrar.
The Conference Convener, Dr. Sajal Chowdhury, will preside over the inaugural session. Keynote speakers include Professor Dr. Khandaker Sabbir Ahmed from BUET's Department of Architecture, Professor Dr. Abu Sayeed Md. Ahmed, Dean of Environmental Science and Design at the University of Asia Pacific, Professor Dr. Md. Akhter Mahmud from Jahangirnagar University's Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP), and Mr. Tapas Ranjan Chakraborty, Senior Program Manager of BRAC’s Climate Change Program. The invited keynote speaker is Professor Dr. Md. Ashiqur Rahman Jowardar from BUET’s Department of Architecture.
